Have you ever wondered what voice would come out of your pets if they could speak? (Yes, I know some of your dogs say “I love you” in a weird little dog voice, but that’s not what I’m talking about.)
I’m talking about the way the babies in Look Who’s Talking have internal voices that sound like Bruce Willis.
Todd and I have decided that if Boudreaux could talk, he’d sound like a 14 year old boy that’s going through puberty. He’d have an uncontrollably squeaky voice and a cocky attitude.

Fiona’s voice would be the complete opposite. She would sound like a 65-year-old woman that has been smoking her whole life.
Beaux, the family dog that lives in Dallas with my parents, would sound like an old Southern gentleman. A very slow talker with only wise words to say and the perfect Southern accent.
If your dogs could talk, what would their voices sound like?

What cute pictures! I have often wondered the same thing about my Westie. I imagine she would have a Scottish accent.
Too funny!! I think our Pug would sound like a very old man that doesn’t really like to talk. I think our French Bulldog would be Asian =)!
We always talk about this in my family! Usually we make up voices for them too, or compare them to people we know. How sad is that?! We definitely get a kick out of it though!!
hanna would be very soft spoken and sweet……..
rose would be fairly loud and bossy (my husband just added that she’d have a raspy voice like an old lunchroom cafeteria lady). what?! i don’t think so.
fun post!
I wrote about this recently. Our cat Pepe (short for Pepe le Pew) would speak in a French accent, complete with the snooty attitude with Hayden the Yellow Lab would sound like a super hyper California girl.
What a great photo of the three of you!
I think Romulus (cat) would try to sound innocent. Who? Me?
i think fiona would be more outspoken and a drama queen..she would always be saying, “HELLO! No one is listening to me. Pay attention.” hahaha
oh how i love fiona
I have a pug and she is always so snorty, and I think she would talk exactly how your Fiona would. I’ve always compared it to Joey’s agent Estelle on FRIENDS.
That is a GORGEOUS pic of the 3 of you together in the first shot! You are beautiful!!
ohmygoodness. my husband and i talk about this ALL the time! i think Sully sounds a lot like Eeyore (“Oh.. Why do I even bother?”) Deep voice, all sullen and such. My wonderful husband thinks he’s a little more redneck as in “Naw, see here, ya’ll. Where’d my sheepie toy git off too?” If you could only hear me saying these phrases outloud.. Sheesh!
My rat terrier, Ally, would sound like a twenty something, cocky-southern lady. My poodly would sound like a raspy old man who is constantly hacking up a lung(he has heart worms
and my Roscoe would sound like a 14 year old know it all always. He would be begging for cookies..lol
haha that’s hilarious! My yorkie-poo would sound like a valley girl.. she’s prissy like her momma.
This is a pretty funny post and I completely agree with your assessment of Fiona! I think mine would sound like a large older woman who gives out candy to grandchildren and naps in the sun.
MMMM, good question. I think The beast would sound have a southern accent with demanding words such as get over here and play with me you fool!lol!
so funny! Fiona’s is the funniest for sure.
Our cat Franklin has a british accent, and Dinsmore our puggle talks like a 5 year old hopped up on a ton of sugar.
Of course they can talk!
I think your voices match their look perfectly. My Bella, 12 year old tabby cat, sounds a bit like a nervous 48 year old spinster, librarian who gets worked up by the little things in life.
Your description for Fiona sounds JUST LIKE what Dave and I say Hanah would sound like. Bailey would either sound like a valley girl-she’s my lil’ prissy fun one! The pics are too cute!
I have to say, Fiona sounds like my kind of dog.
HRH Pug talks like Mel Gibson in “Braveheart”. How a dog of Chinese origin speaks in a faux-Scottish accent, I can’t quite say, but it is distinctive.
Hero the Perfect Cat is above speaking. She merely purrs with perfect love.
haha what a funny idea…i think if my Goldie could talk she would sound like a teenage valley girl…she’s very hyper!
im glad im not the only crazy one out there! i swear my pete sounds one minute like a pre-pubescent squeeky boy, then another a deep drawl … afterall he is just 2 …
Oh that’s a hilarious post! I may have to steal this idea!
I am glad that I’m not the only one who has done this!! My family grew up giving our pets identities!! That is so funny you guys did the same!!
Mr. Stilettos and I are petless now
I totally do the same thing — right now we have a 10 week old Golden Retriever named Delilah and I can’t get the little kid voices out of my head == a la Space Buddies b/c she looks just like those puppies!!
We also have a 3 yr old yorkie/Cairn Terrier that I am convinced would sound like Bette Midler hopped up on speed … talking VERY fast b/c she is always SO anxious!!
Love your blog!!
Haha! My parents have an old yorkie who has lost almost all of her teeth and always looks rough, we always say she would sound like an old smoke lady! This was so funny!
we definitely think our pug would be just like the pug on men in black, all cigars and swear words!
This is so us!! We’ve decided Duke, the hound, sounds like a spastic preteen boy, Lacy, is our sorta snotty, spoiled little girl, and Cash.. well he’s “special” and talks like it to.
The cat is just mean. Or at least that’s what I think anyway!!
That first picture is fantastic! You’re gorgeous!!
Holly would definitely be the perfect teenage airhead, oh and hyper nonstop chatter on top of it all. Love the pictures.
Aaron would be in charge of that. Seeing as he makes all of the voices for the various stuff animals in our menagerie at home.
LMAO!!! We’ve talked about this and I think Baxley would talk like Bart Simpson but like 100 miles an hour!!! Cute post!!! XOXO
This is too funny! I love your Fiona voice.
This is too funny!
It makes me think of that movie Homeward Bound. Did you ever see it?? With Michael J. Fox as Chance?? Although Shadow was my favorite. He was so wise.
this post was too funny. I’d have to give this some thought. I love that first photo. That’s awesome!
so Fiona is really Magda from “There’s Something About Mary”?? Hilarious. We have a Jack Russell. I don’t know what he would say but it would definitely be some spastic run on sentence that was 10 minutes long being relayed as he was trying to climb the walls!
i probably should admit this on the world wide web, but when we got our little ten pound dog, we gave him a voice. we make him talk all teh time. his voice is the exact same as carmen from south park. ahhh, the shame….
Our Allie girl would probably sound like Melissa Joan Hart from Sabrina. Normal hyper teenager 90% of the time, freaking annoying the other 10% lol.
What type of dog is Boudreaux?
This is hilarious!! I love it!!
What precious pictures! They look like lovely doggies.
how funny is this!! i think my little dansby would have a deep voice but daizy would have a high pitched sweet voice
ha! i would love to hear them!
I tagged you in my blog, but don’t feel like you have to participate! Just thought itwould be fun to see
Happy Wednesday!
I love this!!! It makes me feel better that I’m not the only person who gives their dogs voices! My bulldog Yankee has a lisp….and he kind of sounds like a cab driver from NYC. Love your dogs!
Our black lab pup, Charlie, has the sweetest howl and the biggest bark I’ve ever heard. He tends to run into things a lot (including other dogs)… I think that he would sound like Joey from Friends everytime they showed his “thoughts.” Kind of a dum-dee-dum-da-da….
Our 11- month old German Shorthaired Pointer would just have to have the winey baby voice of a little girl!
Such cute dogs!!!
Our three year old English Bulldog, Buerly, would sound like Eeyore at times.
Our 9 month old English Bulldog, Rooney, would sound like a toddler going through their terrible two’s or a teenager with major attitude!
I think Preppy Pug would sound lik that goofy kid we all knew growing up. A voice that is just a little too high and a little too not serious.
Preppy Kitten would just be a bitch. Plain and simple. She would so be a Mean Girl.
Coco, MIL’s dog, would sound just like I imagine Coco Chanel did in her late 50s.
Aww, they’re so cute!! I think our boxer would sound kind of like an overactive hyper kid (i.e., Mike Meyers “Hyper Hypo” on SNL)–because he’s kind of a dork, but, we love him. We haven’t decided what our beagle would sound like, we haven’t had her long enough to determine her voice… And our sheltie would have had a Scottish accent, clearly
I LOVE this post.. Ryan and I talk all the about what we think our dogs would sound like.. we even try to talk like them… We think daisy would sound like a happy, hyper 6 year old girl…. always happy to see everyone and loud… Halley our maltese would sound like a woman in charge… very bossy and controlling voice…
I love that you posted about this. Hubs and I wonder about this too. I think Bentley, our min pin, would have a french accent like the candlestick from Beauty and the Beast (random, I know) and Lulu, our chihuahua, would sound like Renee Zellweger playing Roxie Hart in Chicago. Hmm, I might have to do a spin-off post about this!
lol that is so awesome
haha, how funny you would post about this! The Boyfriend and I go back and forth with what Fenway would sound like… we haven’t figured it out yet.
I love it! I’ve often thought of what my girls would sound like. I think my Bella would be Zoe from Sesame Street and Sunshine… well honestly I hear my late grandmothers voice coming out of her… very old southern and full of sass.
Poor Sadie May is absolutely sweet as can be but not the brightest bulb, so she’d probably sound like a 6 year old girl – instead, kind of ditzy but cute, cuddly and sweet.
this post is adorable
.
We have a Lab named Millie and as much time as she spends in the kitchen I just know her voice would sound just like Paula Deen’s, especially since she is a good ole Southern girl!!
adore your blog!!!
Love your blog!
I have a 21 month old great dane named Elle Woods and she’s the most mellow dog I’ve ever met in my life.
People will randomly comment all the time that she just kinda looks tired… therefore we’ve decided that if she could talk she would sound like Eeyore!
“hiiii mom. glad you’re home from school today. i’ve just been haaanging around alll day. waiting for you. nothing exciting heeeereee.”
Haha oh my gosh, too funny. My husband and I say out loud the things we think my golden puppy Lilly is thinking and would probably say if she could talk! It’s usually high-pitched and very sassy
I love your Boudreaux and Beaux, they look like such sweet golden boys!
Hahahaha! You are too funny!!
Ohh, our Macy Belle is a mini schnauzer…and she does say, “I love you.”
If she could talk talk, though, she would definitely sound like Miss Piggy.
Maybe because I talk like her sometimes and hubby talks like Kermit sometimes. Yeah, we’re strange at times…but we have fun!
Oh, this post is so cute! I always imagined Charlie to have a deep voice, and he would talk like a surfer.
Too funny! I think Neyland our black lab would have a gentle loving voice. Darby the boxer, she is our tough one, so she would probably be kinda like a biker chic. Sophie the chihuahua, HIGH MAINTANCE! She would probably sound like Paris Hilton(I can’t believe I just wrote that about my baby).
HAHAHA…this is so funny because my husband is convinced that our 3 year old puggle has an English accent!
