Have a quick shower when hudsons sleeping then go onto the blog.

I am sooo with you on “blog or bathe.” Although, for me, when my first was a new baby, it was actually “clean or bathe.” She would only nap for 20 minutes at a time (so. not. kidding.), maybe twice per day, so my daily dilemna was “do I do the dishes or take a shower?” or maybe “do I do the dishes or just sit on the couch and read for 20 minutes?” Yeah. Colicky babies make life come down to some pretty basic choices. 20 minutes is not long enough to do much, and while it was enough time for me to take a shower, that was it. Not long enough to follow that shower with hair-drying or getting makeup on. Ugh. So I basically put my hair in a wet ponytail for 6 months straight, and went without makeup unless we were actually going out to dinner with my husband or something.

My second (9 months old now) is a whole different story. When it comes to naps, she’s a champion! She reliably takes one 2-3 hour nap every day, so I no longer have to make those hard decisions. I can take a shower AND do the dishes AND take care of the three year old as well! It’s amazing what some naptime will do.

This is all to say: you’re totally normal, and you’re doing great! Before you know it Hudson will be old enough to just continue playing in his room while you take a shower, and clean the house, and get dinner made. It’s a beautiful thing!

I also use the bounce chair in the bathroom. It actually seems to calm my little one. Also to get a little extra time during the day I let the baby watch Baby Einsteins once in her bounce chair. Some peditricians are warning against this but I used it with my 3 year old as well and she is just fine. I think you could find a warning on just about anything. So I do what works for my family.

I know exactly what you mean about the whole blog or shower thing! Of course I throw another option in there.. Blog, Sleep or Shower! Don’t tell anyone but I typically end up choosing blog my husband can attest HA

I can remember how hard it was to put myself together during those little naps! It was always in the back of my mind that I would leave the house with one eye done if he woke up before I was ready. Luckily, I don’t recall that happening. Once I went back to work, getting ready in the morning was quite the challenge. I can’t even imagine how tough it will be with two in a few months!!! Eeeeek!!!

A bouncy seat or exersaucer always worked best for me….and I’d try to do it first thing in the morning. If not, before you know it, it’s already the afternoon!

I just wanted to second Grace’s advice above – when my own little guy (also named Hudson!) wouldn’t go down for a nap and it got to the point where I just had to shower or Daddy wouldn’t want to go near me when he got home from work, I would put him in either his bouncey chair or swing that I brought right into the bathroom. Granted those weren’t the most relaxing or long showers, but at least I was clean and the baby was occupied!
