it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

by Blue-Eyed Bride on December 2, 2009

WARNING: Christmas decoration picture overload!

It’s December 2 (my dear friend’s birthday) and Christmas is coming with full force! This week is the Junior League’s Holiday Market in Columbia where you can find all the best shopping in one single location. Todd and I are going to the Preview Party tonight. It’s black tie, so that means I’m excited, but he’s not. I will be working the Market all this week, so I knew I had to hurry up and get all of my Christmas decorations up so I could enjoy them.

I had to rearrange the furniture to accommodate everything. I wish I could leave the tree up forever.

I get an ornament from this artist, The Painted Palmetto, every year at the Holiday Market and she puts the year on it.

My nutcracker collection on our bookshelves. I collected them for 12 years. My brother has a lot of them, too.

This is an artist and the Phantom of the Opera.

Some of these are just assorted classic nutcrackers, but there’s also my favorite Biker Girl, the Pilgrim, and Noah.

That’s all I have. I’ve done all of my Christmas decorating. We don’t do the outside of the house because we don’t have any electrical outlets outside. I plan to remedy that before next Christmas. By the way, I said that last year.

WHEN ARE YOU COMING OVER TO HELP ME DECORATE?!?!?!?

AHHHHHHHHHHH. Your tree looks freaking AMAZING!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the bold, vibrant colors!!! AND, want to know another way we are alike? I collect Nutcrackers too! I have about 12 of them at home in Denver!!!

2 Maggie December 2, 2009 at 12:44 pm

Erin, your tree is absolutely breathtaking! Ours is more of a mismatch of family ornaments, a few we’ve collected over the last 2 years and some red and gold (our preferred Christmas decorating colors) balls to add to the overall look. I can’t wait to collect more over the next few years!

I WANT TO COME OVER & SIP COCO IN FRONT OF THAT TREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m happy to know someone else has a mad love for Radko ornaments :)

Your tree is gorgeous! I was planning to wait till the weekend to decorate but seeing your home makes me want to start now!

7 Nina December 2, 2009 at 12:51 pm @ladolcevitanina

Your tree is perfect!!! I love it all.

8 Ally December 2, 2009 at 1:02 pm

Soooo pretty! And festive and gorgeous (as always). I love it!

9 Kate December 2, 2009 at 1:15 pm @cheesefiend

Your tree is GORGEOUS! I love all the color! We don’t have electrical outlets outside either (oh the joys of old houses) – but we’ve ghetto-rigged an extension cord from the entryway, snaking out our door so we could do some outside lights. I’m petrified we are going to burn the house down!

10 Katie December 2, 2009 at 1:19 pm

Everything looks gorgeous! I buy ornaments from the Painted Palmetto on Etsy!

11 Desiree December 2, 2009 at 1:23 pm @clemsongirl4188

You have such fantastic taste. We have two trees, Clemson themed and traditional, and right now the traditional tree is seriously lacking. I have too many “filler” ornaments. I’d die to have my tree looking like yours!

12 Kyle December 2, 2009 at 1:31 pm

I LOVE your nutcracker collection! I have one too. Every year from Christmas my parents have gotten me one. The collection is starting to get out of hand, but now I have it split between my parents’ home in Colorado and my place in LA now.

And I love your ornaments! So personal and special!

13 Katie December 2, 2009 at 1:32 pm

A little FYI, there are adaptors that screw into light sockets that have a plug on the otherside. I presume you have a porch light or two on the outside of your house, so if you pick that little diddy at a hardware store you will be set. They are great because then your outdoor lights are on a switch as well!

14 MeganTree December 2, 2009 at 1:43 pm

Everything looks so beautiful! I love your nutcracker collection!

15 Law School Wife December 2, 2009 at 1:51 pm @lawschoolwife

Love just how MUCH you have (besides how beautiful it all is)! My Christmas collection is in its infancy, and I can’t wait to have a houseful, even just a roomful, of Christmas cheer. *One day!* (One day seems to be my mantra…meaning one day after law school’s over…sigh!)

It’s gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

16 Kaleigha December 2, 2009 at 1:56 pm

I collect nutcrackers too!

17 Julie @ Wearing Mascara December 2, 2009 at 2:01 pm

24 jessica December 2, 2009 at 2:39 pm

Looks Great! Merry CHRISTmas!

25 melissa December 2, 2009 at 2:47 pm

Your tree is beautiful! I love all the jewel toned ornaments. We have the same problem with lighting our house – no outside outlets. Don’t you just love old houses? Charming, but lacking in functionality sometimes! We didn’t have lights last year but I’m hoping my husband will find a way to make it work this year. I miss my outdoor Christmas lights.

26 Emily December 2, 2009 at 3:10 pm

Looks so beautiful and cozy! Loving the nutcrackers :o )

27 Lauren December 2, 2009 at 3:11 pm

I love the Painted Palmetto as well!

28 Samma December 2, 2009 at 3:28 pm

Your tree looks great! I love the Biker Girl Nutcracker- nestled in among TC’s law books? Mine are banned from the house.

29 Preppy 101 December 2, 2009 at 3:28 pm

Everything looks beautiful! I’m almost finished! I’m dying over that angel. So gorgeous! Do they have a website? xoxo

30 Megan December 2, 2009 at 3:57 pm

YAY!!! It looks beautiful!!! You hard work sure paid off!!!!

31 cyndi December 2, 2009 at 3:58 pm

It looks fantastic! I’m hoping to get most of mine done today but we’ll see how it goes. I need to sort through a bunch of stuff (I’m hoping to “simplify” the decor this year) and the mere thought of it is overwhelming me. I wanted it up yesterday but our quick trip to New Orleans threw a wrench in that plan. Is it bad that I want it done but don’t want to do it?

Have fun at your black tie event tonight! Hopefully you’ll post a picture of you in your new dress :-)

32 slynnro December 2, 2009 at 3:59 pm

Can I just say that I’m glad your stockings have your name and not MOM AND DAD. I have some friends with the Mom and Dad ones. Seems kind of sad to me! You are people too!

33 Laura December 2, 2009 at 3:59 pm @cameron_crazy

Wow, your decorations are so beautful! :) I need to post mine soon. Love those stocking hangers. Are they picture frames?

34 Elle December 2, 2009 at 4:31 pm @ellesquarednet

I always love seeing photos of your home. So gorgeous!

35 Legally Fabulous December 2, 2009 at 5:19 pm @legallyfab1

Your tree is so cute! and I love all your decorations…
However, I did notice the law books on the shelf with the nutrackers and I have to admit, that ruined it for me a little! :) haha

36 Hailey December 2, 2009 at 5:49 pm

Everything is beautiful!

37 Kathryn December 2, 2009 at 6:01 pm @Kat_Conway

Love it! We have the same PB stockings and I adore them!

38 julia December 2, 2009 at 7:55 pm

Your decor is ALMOST making me inspired to do ours….but not quite yet:) It looks fabulous! I think doing the outside of the house is the worst anyway, so maybe you can just keep pushing off the outlet installation every year.

39 Cari - The Brooks Family December 2, 2009 at 7:58 pm

Beautiful! Even looking at the non-holiday decor is nice, your style is so classic yet modern! Very cute.

40 Emily Neurohr December 2, 2009 at 9:19 pm

Darling Erin! I am coming to visit some day:) Ur house looks great!!!

41 Michele Renee December 2, 2009 at 9:45 pm

I have jewel toned ornaments too. Love it!
We have lights outside and Hubs uses one outlet inside the garage (and the garage door can close on the cord), and another outlet is in the house and the plug cord goes thru the window (and the window can close) and into a wall plug. We have the large, old fashioned looking colored lights.

42 Perfectly Imperfect December 2, 2009 at 9:48 pm

I love, love, love your tree!!!!! And I want your Nutcracker collection! I keep thinking about starting one, but I still only own one!!

43 Carol December 2, 2009 at 10:40 pm

beautiful decorations and a beautiful house, thanks for sharing! I’d never heard of Christopher Radko until I started volunteering with Children’s Art Project, and love seeing the designs he comes up with..

44 Tracy December 3, 2009 at 12:38 pm @steandtra

Love your decorations and what a gorgeous tree! I especially love the hand painted ornaments – those are beautiful!

45 Missy December 3, 2009 at 6:17 pm

Erin, I just did an ornament post on my blog. I am inviting you to go and check it out.

46 Kk in Dallas December 3, 2009 at 8:02 pm

Put a little greenery around the base of that angel, girl! So proud of you; it looks awesome!

47 Whitney December 3, 2009 at 11:12 pm

HEY! My entire tree is done in Old World ornaments and we totally bought that SAME ornament for Levi this year!!!! Hahaha, that is hilarious! :) Love your decor, girl. Very classy, very beautiful.

48 Running In Stilettos December 5, 2009 at 1:12 pm

OK, so I am in LOVE with your tree topper! I have a bow but it is a mix of tartan and gold. More traditional, if you will. However, my tree is all Radko ornaments. My mom started a collection for me years ago and now that’s all our tree consists of, so the colors are similar to yours.

Where did you get this fabulous jewel toned bow topper? Please, don’t tell me “you are just that good” and made it yourself! I love it!

49 Lauren December 7, 2009 at 4:58 am

Love your tree! I need to add some ribbon to mine since all I have is ornaments on ours. Do you just add wire ribbon and make it curly? How to you attach it at the top… Sorry for the questions your just looks so great!

50 Rachel December 7, 2009 at 11:25 am

I love your decorations, and I can’t wait until next year when we get to decorate with a little one! :)

51 VogueOntheRange December 7, 2009 at 12:26 pm @VogueOntheRange

Absolutely wonderful! When it comes to Christmas, more is more!

52 VABelle December 7, 2009 at 6:40 pm @VaBelle06

Your Christmas decorations are beautiful! I love your nutcracker collection and it has inspired me to want to create my own!

53 NCF December 8, 2009 at 1:09 am @_NCF_

Beautiful!!! I love it all, and love the nutcrackers! We have one =) And definitely look forward to adding more to the collection (well if one is a collection, ha)

54 Lynn W. December 12, 2009 at 12:50 pm

Merry Christmas, Erin! Just wanted to thank you for the idea about using the ribbon as streamers on the tree. I wanted to use ribbon this year but I had wrapped mine gently round and round.. I also wanted bows of the same ribbon.. It wasn’t as much that I didn’t like the ’round and round’ of the ribbon, but it just didn’t work like I wanted with the bows.. SOO..I saw yours and decided to go for the vertical streamers instead and I absolutely LOVE IT! My hubby keeps telling me over and over that he loves how the tree looks!
I also collect nutcrackers! I LOOVE THEM!!! I had a 4 ft. tall one but accidentally didn’t get it when I moved from my ex’s years a go. :( I HAVE however gotten some gorgeous ones added to the collection since. LAST year..my mom got me one of my most favs! Its CLAIRE!!! A nutcracker of Claire herself and she is holding the little nutcracker soldier in one hand and the mouse king one in the other.. Its unbelievably cute! I also got a tall, thin snowman one. I will have to take some pics and email you to show you when I get them all out. Still working on getting them to the mantle.

55 LyndsAU December 22, 2009 at 9:20 am
