another Friday

by Blue-Eyed Bride on January 8, 2010

The weeks sure do fly by! We’ve had a week of highs and lows and I’ll share it with you.

1. Our family pet, Beaux (short for Beauregard), lived the last of his days yesterday. I’ll do a full tribute post for Beaux someday soon just so you can all hear his story, but for now I’ll just give you the short story. We got him when I was 15 years old and a sophomore in high school. He was a beautiful, sweet Golden Retriever, and was honestly the best dog I’ve ever been around. He was incredibly obedient and still very sweet. My mom and dad are struggling as they are constantly reminded of him. He was 12 years old and just a great boy. We got to spend a full week with him in Tennessee over the Christmas holidays and it was wonderful. We’re going to miss Beaux a lot.

2. Todd and I have a really fun weekend planned with a yummy dinner at Rosso tomorrow night then we’re going to see Sherlock Holmes. We’ve really been on a movie-going kick lately. And I love it. We both have breakfast plans on Saturday and dinner plans on Sunday night. We’re looking forward to a good weekend.

3. The SEC reigns supreme! Congratulations to Alabama for winning the BCS National Championship! Of course I’m happy that a school from our conference won, but the whole thing was very bittersweet. It was so sad that Colt McCoy was hurt so early in the game and unable to play in such an important game. For him and for his team. Then, when Gilbert, the back up quarterback came in. Holy smokes. Don’t you know he was just terrified? I’m sure he had no idea that he would really have to play in that game. But then as he found his confidence and got better and better, I started wanting Texas to win! I just love a good story and I’m glad that he was able to give Alabama a good fight! I’d say it was a good game.  And I made Weight Watchers Taco Soup for the game- watching fun!

4. I am loving all of your questions! Thanks for playing along. I will answer them this weekend and post them on Monday and Tuesday of next week. So go ahead and post more questions if you want to!

5. I have a good week of making healthy choices. I’ve worked out 4 days this week and I’m feeling great. I just hope I start seeing results soon.

Happy weekend, everyone! Stay warm!

I’m so sorry to hear about Beaux- I know how hard it is to lose a family pet that you have loved for so long!
I have been wanting to try Rosso- it always smells so delicious when you walk by it! And I hope y’all enjoy Sherlock Holmes more than we did- perhaps it just wasn’t my kind of movie!!
Have a good weekend, Erin!

So sorry about Beaux. That’s so hard when they become such a huge part of your family.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your family pet. We had a cat from when I was 5-17, and when she died I was heartbroken.

I’m so very, very sorry for your & your family’s loss of Beaux.

On a less serious note, that game last night was such a heartbreaker, but definitely a fun one to watch too. I feel so sorry for poor Colt, but am so impressed with the bravery Gilbert showed.

I said it yesterday on twitter, but I’m gonna say it again. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved puppy. Pets become family members and it’s so hard to say goodbye. I’m glad you got to spend some time with a few weeks ago when you went to TN!

SO sorry to hear about your dog =( That’s such a tough thing to go through.

Sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead of you! It’s cold here, so I think me and the fiance’ are going to bunker down, stay home and watch movies!

I have a question for your ask me a question post. How many kids do you and your hubby want? Also, were do you get all those adorable clohes for Hudson?

Have a great weekend =)

Oh, your poor parents (and poor you)! How incredibly sad. We got a Husky when I was 15 and he recently passed away. It’s heartbreaking, since he had been around for almost half of my life.

12 Mrs. Practically Pefect January 8, 2010 at 6:08 pm

Oh Erin – I’m so sorry about Beaux. He was such a sweet dog.

13 Molly January 8, 2010 at 6:10 pm

Your poor family! Losing a pet is one of the hardest things to go through, our fur friends/children aren’t on this planet long enough :-) Prayers for all of you.

Enjoy your weekend, sounds perfect to me!

14 Emily January 8, 2010 at 6:36 pm

Oh I’m crying as I read about and looked at the photo of your sweet Beaux. He looks just like the Golden we had from the time I was 5 until she passed away when I was 19. I still miss her a lot. Its so difficult to lose a family dog.. they are so very special and hold such a huge place in our hearts. May the memories of great times with him last you all a lifetime! Hugs to all of you!

Erin, I’m so sorry about Beaux. Losing a pet is darn near impossible. They’re such a huge part of a family. I’m so glad you were all able to spend a lot of time with him over Christmas!

16 The Wife January 8, 2010 at 6:56 pm

I’m so sorry for your loss.

With the working out, will you please send some of your motivation up my way? It’s only been 9 weeks since delivery, but I am starting to get upset that I can’t even fit into my “big” clothes yet. Of course, my sweet tooth doesn’t help the situation at all…

17 Preppy 101 January 8, 2010 at 7:22 pm

Sorry about your pet. So hard.

I’m sure you will start seeing the weight drop now that you are dieting and working out! Way to go!! xoxo

18 Nicole January 8, 2010 at 7:45 pm

oh im so sorry about your sweet Beaux :-(
I have a almost 6 year old golden and they are such amazing dogs, especially with kids!

also i am so jealous of you getting to see so many movies! i have been dying to see Blindside but we havent found a babysitter we looove yet, and it almost rips my heart out to have to pay someone $10/hr to sit on my couch and watch tv, because our daughter is always asleep! haha!

Have a great weekend!

I’m so, so sorry about Beaux. I know how difficult that is and how much all of you are hurting.

I love reading about you and your family and the pics of Hudson are so sweet. My ‘little’ boy is a sophomore at Carolina but I still remember him being so small.

I’m so sorry to hear about your sweet dog. We lost our lab this summer and it’s the worst feeling in the world. Just think about how lucky you are to have had such a special dog!

21 Amy January 9, 2010 at 9:09 am

I am very sorry to read about your “FD” (Family Dog as my family calls them.) My parents have a 10 year old golden retriever and she is as dear as can be. It makes me so sad when I think about her being old. I am thinking of you & your family1

22 Jennifer January 9, 2010 at 11:42 am

Yay, for working out! I’ve been a few times this week too and it feels soo good! I really need to couple it with less sweets! ;-)

So sorry to hear about Beaux.. We had to put our family dog to sleep in February, and even though I work around it, it’s absolutely devastating when it’s your pet… Thinking of you, and your family…

29 em January 10, 2010 at 10:55 am

Erin, so sorry about your loss. Golden Retrievers are great dogs. We lost our Benjamin two years ago and the kids still ask about him.

Have great time at the movies=;)

That breaks my heart about Beaux! This makes the 3rd animal in bloggy land that I’ve heard about that is no longer here. So sad.

33 Shirra January 11, 2010 at 6:05 pm

Erin ~ I’m so sorry & sad to hear about the loss of Beaux! He will surely be missed! I will let the folks know over at the Whitney ~ I’m sure they will be upset! I’ll ask them if anyone still has the pictures your parents took of Beaux standing at the front desk when they were living there & I was working there. The pictures were so cute and I know you’d love to see them. So sorry again for your loss!
