we’re back!

by Blue-Eyed Bride on February 1, 2010

I really did only blog once last week and I can honestly say it’s because I’ve got a crawler on my hands. I’m going to have to figure out how to blog first and then rest when Hudson goes to bed every night.

So what have we been doing? Other than watching this?

1. I’m happy to report that I finished three books (from my 2010 reading list of thirteen books) in January! I have completed Firefly Lane, Something Borrowed, and Something Blue. And I loved all of them. I absolutely recommend Firefly Lane to all of you and the Something Borrowed and Something Blue series was such a great, real, easy read.

2. As I mentioned, Hudson is a crawling machine. He’s also pulling up on everything, which has made being a SAHM a real adventure. He loves standing in his crib, but his new thing is to grab onto the paintings above his crib and bang them into the wall. They’re boards, people. One day I went in to check on him during his nap, and he was sitting up in his crib, holding one of those boards and chewing on it! He got the thing off the wall and into the bed with him. Those boards are no longer on the wall right now and won’t be going back up any time soon where he can reach them!

3. Todd is going to be traveling a lot in the next few weeks, so Hudson and I are hopping on a plane to go to Dallas to visit my parents and lots of friends. We get to watch the Super Bowl there with my family and friends from Louisiana who know how to make real cajun food!

4. Damages started last week and it was so good! If you’re not watching this show, you need to.

5. I was impressed with almost all of the performances on the Grammy Awards last night. The Taylor Swift/Stevie Nicks duet was a mess, but all of the others were pretty amazing.

6. My girl, Carrie Underwood, is performing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, and we can just add that to the list of reasons why this is the best Super Bowl ever. The reasons are…. 1) Carrie Underwood performing the national anthem, 2) The Saints and the Colts are playing– teams from two states that I’ve lived in (although I’ll be cheering for the Saints!), 3) the yummy food we’ll have at our Super Bowl party (red beans and rice, gumbo, king cake), 4) the first Super Bowl appearance for the Saints– ever! How can you not cheer for them?

7. These guys love each other. Boudreaux is such a patient dog and lets Hudson climb all over him. Then when he’s had enough, he just gets up and moves to a different part of the room. It’s so sweet.

How sweet!! We had to remove the pictures above Lallie’s crib too, for that same reason. Soon he’ll be chewing on the crib rails. Bordeaux is so cute, Lallie and our golden has such a wonderful relationship. UK actually assisted in helping her learn to walk! Now, she just pokes him in the nose and eyes and he just lays there and takes it, loves the attention.

I love seeing Hudson and Boudreaux together! I hope that when we have a baby, Layla will be kind and love the baby! I honestly think about this a lot.

I’m also laughing at your story of Hudson pulling the boards off the wall. He’s not such a baby anymore!

Hudson is so cute! I wanted to ask you, where did you get the boards above Hudson’s crib? Did you have them made somewhere? They are very cute.

4 Sweet Simplicity February 1, 2010 at 11:38 am

Aw, goldens are such good dogs! I hope you have safe and fun travels!

Hudson is adorable! Too bad you had to take the boards down, they were super cute, ha! And I totally agree, the Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks duet was not one of the finest of the night. But she still made out with album of the year though :) And did Carrie Underwood not look amazing at the Grammys? So did not know she was performing at halftime show, YAY!!!!!!! :)

Hudson’s nursery is SO cute! Did you ever do a post on where you got everything? I’m in hardcore nursery shopping mode and am looking for inspiration!

What a sweet boy! Hudson is such a strong a fast baby. He’s a month older than my daughter and I look forward to his developments to see if my Kayla is on the same track. With that being said, I should probably lower her crib mattress soon :)

I love Hudson’s room! I was admiring the artwork above his bed until you mentioned the banging and chewing :( I’m sure you will be able to put them back up eventually. I hope my cavalier and Eloise get along as well as your two guys do. Maisy seems to leave Eloise alone, but I’m not sure what will happen when she starts crawling after her!

I had a dog that would sit and by my niece when she was a baby, and when she would cry, the dog would get concerned and worried. She would then come find one of us, to come get the baby..it was precious.

I just love CU. I didn’t know she was singing the National Anthem, and now, it makes me even more excited to watch the super bowl!!!! And the TS/SN duet….terrible. I enjoyed much of everything else.

We are living parallel lives! Have a fun trip!

Firefly lane is one of my faves. I cried like crazy at the end. Have you started Baby Proof yet? I just started Dear John and I’m hooked big time. Hoping to finish by this weekend for the movie.

I will admit Taylor didn’t sound the best with miss Stevie Nicks. I was embarrassed for Steve Nicks. I may have lost a bit(just a little) of my girl crush from Miss Taylor last night.

I can’t believe how big Hudson is getting!! He’s getting cuter everyday! I love the Emily Giffin books they are easy to read and will keep you entertained!!

Erin,I missed your blogging last week… but happy that you are back on business. :D
You really are an inspiration.!!!!
Hudson is sooo cute.!!

I actually just finished reading both “Something Borrowed” and “Something Blue”. I went straight to the library to pick up “Baby Proof” and “Love The One Your With” since I know I’ll fly through both of them.

I love the painting collage in Hudson’s room, so unique and personal.

Enjoy your yummy Superbowl weekend!

So, I’m really bummed because, while I don’t really care all that much about who wins the Super Bowl, were it up to me, I’d be cheering for the Saints! (a) I have loads of cute gold and black left over from my Wake days, (b) Drew Brees went to my high school, and (c) everyone loves a Cinderella story! BUT we are going to this party at Evs’ good friend’s home and he’s a Colts FANATIC. Evs jokingly told him I wanted to cheer for the Saints and he said I wouldn’t be allowed in the house. And he’s not kidding. Lame.

YAY for Dallas visit!!!

21 Christie February 1, 2010 at 5:13 pm

I just finished Firefly Lane a couple of hours ago, and my eyes are still puffy and red from bawling my eyes out! It was so good!!

22 MeganTree February 1, 2010 at 5:22 pm

I love that last picture, so cute!! And I have been wondering who was going to be singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl. Thanks for always keeping me in the ‘know’! How fun that you are going to get to spend some time with family and friends. I bet your parents love all the Hudson time they can get!!

23 Jessica February 1, 2010 at 5:52 pm

I love the boards above the crib. Where did you get them?

24 Stephanie February 1, 2010 at 6:54 pm

I LOVE Damages!! So good!

25 Erin J February 1, 2010 at 7:29 pm

I came across your blog a few weeks ago and love it already. My 14 month old has (HAD) a canvas picture above his bed and he pulled it down all the time. I’d go in to check on him during nap and he’d be sleeping on top of it! I do love Hudson’s room and would love to see more pictures of it!

26 Nicole February 1, 2010 at 7:54 pm

I am so jealous you get to go to visit Dallas! My whole family is there and we can’t make it back for a visit until March (my little girl is turning 2!) and I am already counting the days!!!

27 Nina February 2, 2010 at 9:57 am

Aunnie cannot wait to get to SC in March and squeeze the little man’s neck!!!!!! (Yes, 3rd person. Sometimes it just feels right!)

p.s. Obsessed with your new header!!

The picture of Hudson and Boudreaux is absolutely adorable. Hope you have a safe and fun trip to Dallas!

30 lizziefitz February 2, 2010 at 11:36 am

I loved the something series. ahh guilty pleasures. Hudson just gets cuter everyday, is that even possible? Have a safe and fun trip:)

31 Patricia Kozack February 2, 2010 at 8:40 pm

Welcome to the world of crawling babies. Ever since Sebastian started crawling, he doesn’t stop. He is now walking all over the place. It’s never ending…no more sitting down in one place for me! We also had to move a frame that he likes to play with. I was nervous he would accidently pull it down as well. Hope you have a great time in Dallas!

32 Megan February 3, 2010 at 9:59 pm

You guys have been busy!! That is a sweet picture. Yeah, Taylor & Stevie’s performance was lacking for sure. We watched Damages a few times.. I really want to get back into it!!

33 Kiki February 13, 2010 at 6:36 pm

Your nursery looks fabulous! Do you have a post where you reveal the whole room? I would LOVE to see it!
