bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow review and giveaway

by Blue-Eyed Bride on October 25, 2011

Oh, the life of a mommy!

I promise there used to be a time when I was glamorous.

I have blogged many times about how rushed I am in the mornings. I love wearing makeup, and I love putting on my cutest outfit every day. But time doesn’t always allow for it. I wake up more tired than I was when I went to bed sometimes, but I am always so happy to see the little faces that grace my home that I end up with tons of energy just because I love them so much.

I don’t always have time to put on concealer or any kinds of creams that will help the puffiness go away. I am one of those people that really “needs” eye makeup to bring out the best of my eyes. I want to look pretty every day.

But I heard something recently in a bareMinerals® advertisement that “beauty is a force.” How cool is that? Pretty will come and go, but beauty comes from within.

Beauty is about how I treat my family, and how I feel when I walk into a room and see my husband’s face light up-even if I’m in a t-shirt and yoga pants and my hair is on top of my head. Beauty is about the way I live my life and what others see when they look at me. As cliché as it sounds, it’s what’s inside that counts. Beauty is how I feel when my two-year-old son strokes my hair and says, “Mommy has pretty hair.”

But, while all those things are great, there is something to be said for outer beauty.

I recently discovered bareMinerals READY™ Eyeshadow 2.0. I received The Scenic Route eyeshadow shades in Breathtaking + Spectacular. Breathtaking is a very light base color while Spectacular is this gorgeous green/copper color that works so great with blue eyes.

There was an insert in the package with little tips on how to wear the colors for daytime and how to wear them for evening. You can wear the same colors all day long for any occasion. And the best part? They really stay on all day long. It’s amazing!

The READY Eyeshadow looks like a powder, but it feels like a cream. It’s very thick, and the colors are so rich and vibrant. I can put this on first thing in the morning. The two colors go a long way and work to reduce puffiness and add some gorgeous color to my eyes. And it’s so fast and easy! Perfect for my busy mommy lifestyle.

There are some amazing You Tube videos from bareMinerals on how to apply the READY Eyeshadow. I watched a few of these when trying to learn all the different ways and options for applying the eyeshadow. I want to encourage all of you to watch the videos here for some great application techniques and ideas. http://www.youtube.com/user/BareEscentuals

I want people to think I’m pretty, sure, and I will always make a little extra effort to look pretty. But I know that beauty is so much more than pretty and so much more than what’s on the outside.

I am giving away one bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0. (Retail price $20).

I love their mineral veil and would love to try eye shadow!

2 Tyly @ One Mile at a Time October 25, 2011 at 12:21 pm

A force of beauty is one that carries herself better than she feels. I am going through some tough times right now, and I tell myself to look better than I feel so I will then feel better! It actually helps me feel stronger and more confident.

3 MrsGrits October 25, 2011 at 12:22 pm

I think a Force of Beauty is someone who makes others feel more beautiful to be around. :-)

I think a Force of Beauty is someone who is confident and caring!

5 Catie October 25, 2011 at 12:27 pm

I believe a force of beauty could be multiple things. A woman who has no idea how beautiful she is and therefore isn’t self-conscious about it. Or, it could be a woman who takes good care of herself, and yet the world knows that is not what she cares about, her priorities are family and friends. I would love some new makeup. As the mom of a 7 month old, I don’t always get to put much effort in how I look.

6 Laura October 25, 2011 at 12:28 pm

That eyeshadow looks great. I think a Force of Beauty is someone who radiates optimism and confidence around others.

7 Emily October 25, 2011 at 12:34 pm

I think the Force of Beauty is someone who is confident in her body, no matter her body type, appearance, or clothing. As long as you feel good about yourself, it doesn’t matter what others think!

8 Renn October 25, 2011 at 12:36 pm

I would love some good mommy eyeshadow :-D

9 Emily October 25, 2011 at 12:37 pm

I think you described a force of beauty perfectly. It is definitely something that comes from the inside. I’ve been hearing good things about this eyeshadow!

14 lindsey October 25, 2011 at 12:49 pm

Beauty is being confident and sure (but not too sure) of one’s self!

15 Mandy October 25, 2011 at 12:50 pm

I love their powders and blushes and would love to try the eye shadow. The colors are beautiful!! I love your description of beauty. It’s spot on!

16 Libby Johnson October 25, 2011 at 12:50 pm

A “force of beauty” is best exemplified by a smile….at your husband when he walks in the door, at the grocery store bagger, at your child’s cute antics, or subconsciously at a funny thought or memory. Of course, fun new eye shadow would make me smile today!

17 Laura October 25, 2011 at 12:50 pm

The force of beauty is not as much about being pretty, but about handling yourself with grace and treating those around you with kindness and respect.

18 Lesley October 25, 2011 at 12:52 pm

I LOVE Bare Minerals and am very excited about the eye shadows!

A force of beauty is the “glow” you have from being surrounded by loved ones! My face is always a little brighter when I am around my baby!

21 Nicole October 25, 2011 at 12:59 pm

I think the force of beauty describes the power we have as people to make others feel beautiful or ugly. A woman who is a force of beauty takes care of herself, and appreciates the beautiful in others.

22 Maureen October 25, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Beauty is a Force….I think being truly happy and appreciative with everything you have and sharing that happiness brings out your inner beauty that no make up could possibly accomplish. But hey lets be honest some days we need a little more help with some good make up!!!!

23 Kodi October 25, 2011 at 1:01 pm

To me a force of beauty is a woman who lives for the Lord. :)

24 MrsK October 25, 2011 at 1:04 pm

Force of beauty definetely comes from within–confidence and grace! However, gorgeous eyeshadows like this can not hurt.

25 Kodi October 25, 2011 at 1:04 pm
26 Anne October 25, 2011 at 1:10 pm

The force of beauty means that you are able to make both yourself and those surrounding you feel strong and capable1

27 laurenbtrain October 25, 2011 at 1:15 pm

beauty is loving yourself and seeing that each of us are fearfully and wonderfully made!

28 Beth October 25, 2011 at 1:16 pm

The force of beauty is a big smile and a confident walk.

29 Sara H. October 25, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Beauty is when you feel good about yourself!

30 Emily October 25, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Force of Beauty = Confidence! (which i need more of!)

31 Kristin B October 25, 2011 at 1:24 pm

A force of beauty is being confident in your own skin and owning your authentic self.

32 Sarah October 25, 2011 at 1:29 pm

I think confidence and happiness are a force of beauty!

33 Tracey October 25, 2011 at 1:31 pm

A force of beauty is the feeling, deep down inside that projects itself through your smile!

34 Michelle October 25, 2011 at 1:31 pm

I believe a Force of Beauty is when you make others feel beautiful and encouraged because you project your own inner beauty when you interact with them!

35 Megan October 25, 2011 at 1:34 pm

A force of beauty is…my mom, my sister, my best friend, my neighbor…a person is beautiful also by how he/she makes another feel.

36 Elizabeth October 25, 2011 at 1:36 pm

A force of beauty is someone who makes others feel beautiful, inside and out. It’s a person who goes above and beyond to help others and to make their world a better place.

37 Kate October 25, 2011 at 1:43 pm

I think a force of beauty is someone who is comfortable in their own skin, and is beautiful inside and out!

38 Jamie October 25, 2011 at 1:44 pm

I think a previous commenter nailed it: force of beauty is confidence. I always find confident people to be attractive, regardless of their outer appearance.

39 Lindsay October 25, 2011 at 1:44 pm

A force of beauty is confidence in who you are as a woman.

40 Gretchen October 25, 2011 at 1:45 pm

That combo looks gorgeous! Love to wear green on my eyes. I think A Force of Beauty is someone who is confident in themselves and kind to others.

41 Stacy Edwards October 25, 2011 at 1:53 pm

The force of beauty is someone who is beautiful outside and in…even if you’re not a model on the outside you can be just as pretty as one if you have inner beauty and love yourself!

42 Sarah October 25, 2011 at 1:56 pm

A Force of Beauty is a breath of grace and a fierce determination and confidence. I think that true beauty is so magnetic – it draws people to you; there’s an attractiveness about women with true beauty that goes so much deeper than what we see.

43 Allison October 25, 2011 at 1:58 pm

I think the force of beauty comes from within- a gentle, peaceful spirit, being filled with kindness and the grace of God, and someone who cares for others before herself. Thanks for the chance to win- I wear bare minerals facial makeup, and LOVE it. I would love to try out their eyeshadows.

44 Lauren October 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm

A force of beauty is a woman and her newborn baby! She often hasn’t showered, dressed or brushed her teeth, but that little one depends on her!

45 Faith October 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm

To me, a force of beauty is a heart that loves the Lord – a beauty that radiates from the inside out =) I love Bare Minerals products and would love to try these eye shadows!

46 Tangled In Texas October 25, 2011 at 2:05 pm

A force of beauty is a power that is in all of us. It motivates us to put others before ourself.

I think some of the prettiest people are those who are not classically beautiful. Have you ever been around someone who is attractive, but because they aren’t a nice person it almost makes them less pretty/handsome?

47 whitney October 25, 2011 at 2:05 pm

Someone beautiful on the inside and out.

48 Laura October 25, 2011 at 2:17 pm

I love bareMinerals products! I think a force of beauty is someone with a heart to serve.

49 Rachel October 25, 2011 at 2:23 pm

Someone with a such a way about them that you can’t help but notice. In a word: captivating.

50 J October 25, 2011 at 2:26 pm

A force of beauty comes from confidence, kindness and a smile

51 Tristan October 25, 2011 at 2:34 pm

I think a force of beauty is a woman with confidence, but has no idea how much beauty and confidence she is radiating. She makes everyone around her feel beautiful, too.

52 Sarah October 25, 2011 at 2:34 pm

A force of beauty, to me, is treating others with dignity, respect, and grace. To me, that radiates the essence of a beautiful spirit.

53 Alicia October 25, 2011 at 2:46 pm

A force of beauty is loving those around them, no matter who they are.

54 Tina Zimney October 25, 2011 at 2:48 pm

I think a Force of Beauty is the mommy that wears snot, vomit, poop, etc…. drags herself out of bed in the morning even though she got up several times thru the night with her kids, doesn’t have time to shower before leaving for some errands but is proud of how being a mommy makes her look.

but the eyeshadow would sure make her feel pretty

55 PJ October 25, 2011 at 2:49 pm

Ooh, I love BareMinerals; but, I have never tried their eye products, just the foundation.

I think a Force of Beauty is an internal thing. It’s about being comfortable in your own skin and having an inner confidence (not that make-up and a cute outfit can’t help with the outward appearance).

56 Mama Bub October 25, 2011 at 2:51 pm

A force of beauty is someone who is proud of how she looks, but likes to play with pretty things, too.

57 Rebecca Balderas October 25, 2011 at 2:53 pm

Force of beauty is having confidence in yourself. You don’t compare yourself to other because you know that you are special in your own, unique way.

I love the eyeshadow and would love to try it. I love playing with makeup.

58 Lynn Williams October 25, 2011 at 2:53 pm

A force of beauty to me, is living each day not for myself, but to try to live where the Lord can shine through my life. I have almost finished 6 months of chemotherapy for a cancer that gives me a 50/50 chance. You might think that any beauty or smile that a woman could have, would be gone after all that. But I have found the true beauty of being a woman, a person, a Christian, is there even in the worst of times.. as I have found the joy of the Lord shines through even in the roughest of days! He has been so wonderful to me..and has helped me through each step..and even helped my true beauty to shine through while going through cancer treatments. Others have stated it and I know it to be so true, the force of beauty is the love of the Lord shining through, when you don’t have the force on your own.

59 Becky October 25, 2011 at 3:02 pm

A Force of Beauty is one who recognizes the beauty in others, too. So many times women get catty and like to find flaws in others, but it’s so important to see others the way God sees them. We are ALL beautiful!

60 Sarah October 25, 2011 at 3:09 pm

Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can’t lose. Works for beauty and Friday Night Lights.

61 Savanna October 25, 2011 at 4:03 pm

I LOVE bareminerals!
I think a force of beauty is someone who doesn’t place their self-worth in how outwardly beautiful they are but in what they can do to help and bring joy to others!

62 Heather October 25, 2011 at 4:17 pm

Force of beauty is begin confident in your own skin!

63 KerTwomey October 25, 2011 at 4:18 pm

A force of beauty is confidence and joy. It is laughing with friends over happy memories or inside jokes while not caring about how your laugh sounds or who hears you. It is making others feel good about themselves with an offhanded compliment or praise. It’s feeling good in your skin.

64 Mrs. Jones October 25, 2011 at 4:24 pm

I think a Force of Beauty is knowing yourself and being comfortable. Everything else comes easier after that!

I tweeted! http://twitter.com/#!/aRealLifeWife/status/128929803654021120

65 Lindsay Adair October 25, 2011 at 4:25 pm

The Force of Beauty is knowing exactly who you are and being confident in that very person! So cool to meet people who have the Force of Beauty. You can’t be more beautiful than being confident in the skin you’re in.

66 Laura October 25, 2011 at 4:31 pm

I love their mineral veil! I totally agree with you that beauty has nothing to do with your outside appearance!

67 kourtney October 25, 2011 at 4:31 pm

Force of Beauty is being comfortable with yourself, inside and out. Yes, it would be nice to be all dolled up in heels and makeup, but if you’re comfortable with nothing on your face and sweat pants, that’s true beauty. God made us that way, and loves us even when we don’t think we look ‘pretty’ on the outside. Like you said, my husband smiles and lights up when he sees me, even if i’m in my usual attire of pj pants, tshirt and pony tail. It would be nice to surprise him with a cute face sometime!!

68 Jade N October 25, 2011 at 4:34 pm

A force of beauty is someone with such confidence and assurance it takes your breath away!

88 Aurora October 25, 2011 at 8:11 pm

I have been a Bare Minerals user for about 8 years. I adore the way my skin feels when I use their products. For me, the force of beauty is how you feel with yourself. You dont NEED a stitch of make up for feel beautiful…. you need inner confidence…. you need to feel right about yourself. That is what it means to me!

89 Lori October 25, 2011 at 8:41 pm

I would love to try it! :)

90 Jackie October 25, 2011 at 8:59 pm

A force of beauty to me is a person who let’s their personality be the spotlight. Beauty can only shine through with someone who is is beautiful on the inside!

93 Kendall October 25, 2011 at 9:41 pm

To me, beauty comes from the joy projected through the actions you take everyday. When you enter a room with positive energy and true JOY, you are beautiful!

94 Christie October 25, 2011 at 9:42 pm
95 Dana October 25, 2011 at 9:45 pm

Erin, I am not going to enter, but I just really wanted to see a pic of the eyeshadow on ya :) I just recently went into Ulta for the first time in a while and saw the bare minerals sections. I pondered buying somethings, but then chickened out :( I just have to see things before I buy them, ya know! So if ya get a chance would you mind doing a before/after post with the makeup? Thanks :) )))

96 abi October 25, 2011 at 10:04 pm

I’d love to try this! I think the force of beauty has to do with self confidence – when you know you spent time getting ready and look good, you feel better and are able to conquer the world.

97 Cati October 25, 2011 at 10:27 pm

I completely agree with you that it starts from within. Being tough and tender, virtue and purity. LOVE these colors.

98 Marissa October 25, 2011 at 10:54 pm

103 Cassie October 26, 2011 at 8:57 am

A force of beauty doesn’t care what other people think!

104 Michelle October 26, 2011 at 8:58 am

I’m excited about this eye shadow! I love BE’s stuff already, but I think this would make me love them even more!

As for defining a force of beauty…it’s not about how put together you look. No, to me, a force of beauty is someone who’s inner beauty shines & defines who they are on the inside and the outside. People like that are beautiful in such a way that make up isn’t necessary, but just enhances. Make sense? Probably not…I haven’t had coffee yet!!

Oh, I also tweeted: https://twitter.com/#!/maliasma/status/129179651540127745

105 meghan October 26, 2011 at 9:34 am

I’ve always liked their products, but I’ve never tried the eyeshadows. The copper color is so pretty!

106 Jen Tepe October 26, 2011 at 10:47 am

A Force of Beauty to me is the person who is beautiful on the outside because they exudes all the traits and characteristics that make them beautiful from within and knows you don’t have to have full face makeup, a designer bag or name brand clothes on to feel confident or great!

107 Edie Christine October 26, 2011 at 12:34 pm

A Force of Beauty to me is something that comes from the inside. It is mostly confidence and attitude.

108 Christen October 26, 2011 at 1:30 pm

A Force of Beauty is someone who is outwardly focused. Someone who finds beauty in others and brings out the best in those around her.

109 The Waspy Redhead October 26, 2011 at 1:56 pm

I would define a force of beauty as someone who uses their power for good. Beauty doesnt have to be related to aesthetics.

I have so wanted to try these shadows. They look richly pigmented!

110 Kim J October 26, 2011 at 2:03 pm

Force of beauty is being able to laugh at your self and keep a smile on your face!!

111 katie October 26, 2011 at 3:32 pm

A force of beauty is someone who knows they look good with or without make-up. I personally love make up and particularly eye shadows and have a ton of them but I dont have this.

112 erin October 26, 2011 at 3:35 pm

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder- you have to think that you, yourself are beautiful before anyone else can…

113 Jackie October 26, 2011 at 4:21 pm

I believe that a force of beauty is someone who is beautiful on the inside… and that beauty shows through on the outside! :]

to me, a force of beauty is a woman who always has a smile on her face

120 Sarah W October 26, 2011 at 10:35 pm

Audrey Hepburn couldn’t of said it better:

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge you are never alone.”

One of my favorite quotes I try to live by everyday. Of course Bare Minerals is one of my favorites for outer beauty :)

The real force of beauty comes from joy on the inside. Thanks for the giveaway…would love to try their eyeshadow.

The force of beauty is knowing who you are and what you stand for. It’s showing grace, being kind, confident and compassionate!

124 Amber October 27, 2011 at 3:02 pm

I beleive that a force of beauty is being confident in your own skin. Some people can feel beautiful as soon as they wake up in the morning and roll out of bed while it takes others of us a little extra time to feel beautiful. No matter what the morning beauty regimend is the end result is always the same; a confident woman who is ready to meet the day head on!

125 Kara October 27, 2011 at 3:57 pm

I think that confidence defines beauty–not cockiness but being cOnfidnet in who you are. Knowing that God made u from the inside out and being proud of that

126 Karina October 27, 2011 at 4:06 pm

beauty=confidence

127 Jodie October 27, 2011 at 4:21 pm

Force of beauty is having a positive attitude, love for yourself and others, and confidence within yourself. Force of beauty is what ever makes you happy. :)

128 Jess October 27, 2011 at 7:28 pm

I absolutely love all of their products!

129 Sara October 27, 2011 at 7:42 pm

I think a force of beauty is being comfortable in your own skin.

I believe beauty is from the inside out. The most beautiful person to me is someone who has a generous and kind heart.

To me a force of beauty is someone who is confident in herself and not obsessed with material things or superficial beauty.

132 Eclectically E October 27, 2011 at 10:13 pm

You have to have a beautiful soul to be a force of beauty! I have never known a pretty girl on the outside without her being a pretty girl on the inside! Be comfortable in your own skin and be good to others, then you’ll be a force of beauty :)

I need a great neutral eyeshadow and my eyes are blue too!

135 Jaime S. October 28, 2011 at 7:34 am

I believe that Force of Beauty is a combination of things: Love, compassion, desire, loyalty, confidence, laughter…all within a woman who loves to take care of herself and look pretty. =)

136 Alicia October 28, 2011 at 11:31 am

I think a force of beauty is someone who is confident yet understated. You’d never suspect she was a vixen but there’s just something about a force of beauty that radiates confidence and subtle sexiness. With or without makeup this person is beautiful on the inside and out.

137 Jessica K October 28, 2011 at 11:58 am

Thanks for the giveaway!

138 Robbie October 28, 2011 at 12:09 pm

I think force of beauty, really means confident. Whether or not you are wearing much make up, you pull it off because you really are just confident in your own skin.

139 elaine October 28, 2011 at 1:14 pm

a force of beauty is someone who is confident — not just in herself, but in what she wants to do with her life and in her own abilities! :)

I’ll echo everyone else. A force of beauty is someone whose beauty comes from inside!

151 LAMusing November 2, 2011 at 11:36 pm

Beauty is confidence. Nothing like the glow of a woman who feels good about herself. so re: make-up – some days it’s not needed, other days I can use a boost

You know, this sounds wonderful for blue eyes. I recently tried a ‘green-copper’ eye shadow set from a local retailer, and I was not disappointed. With Bare Minerals, it would have to be so much more healthier for my eyes (they are sensitive due to allergies).
I find beauty in strong genuine eyes when you see people have a great, big laugh. Laughter is a good way to remain beautiful.

165 Krystal November 14, 2011 at 3:02 pm

To me, Force of Beauty means an unstoppable glow of a woman’s natural beauty.

172 Debra F November 25, 2011 at 7:23 pm

I try to embrace all my features….those that I appreciate and even those that are not ideal. I use my makeup to enhance my beauty….not cover it up, and always remember the old cliche that beauty truly comes from within.

173 Mama Perks November 28, 2011 at 8:48 pm

Love the idea of “force of beauty.” Like you Erin-I would say my current force of beauty is still feeling beautiful when my hubby comes home and I’m still in my sweatpants and a ponytail. Perhaps some new eyeshadow will spruce things up!!

174 Chelsi November 28, 2011 at 9:39 pm

I love BareMinerals! I remember back in 2004 when my mom & I first stocked up in their boutique store in San Fran while there for a weekend. I’ve used their products ever since! I actually have this shadow and the muse & passion set (purple). Love them! I’m a masara & liner only girl usually for everyday but these are easy!

Their outlook on beauty being a force is admirable, especially in an industry that promotes the opposite in many ways. I agree that beauty encompasses so much more than pretty. Beauty is a way of life, not the size of your jeans or shade of lipstick.

Someone confident that makes others feel the same.

181 Kim November 29, 2011 at 12:15 am

A force of beauty is someone that is confident inside and out. They don’t care what the world thinks and rocks it from every angle. It is who and what I aspire to be.

182 Sirena Sparklestar November 30, 2011 at 11:40 pm

I define a force of beauty as being comfortable with yourself. When I feel confident, I feel beautiful.
