my bags aren’t packed, but I’m ready to go!

by Blue-Eyed Bride on February 21, 2012

In a few days, I’ll be on my way to Nashville for the BlissDom blogging conference. I’m so excited to get there and catch up with old friends and meet some new friends. And I’m especially excited to learn some stuff! The writing sessions look like they’re going to be so great and exactly what I’m looking for.

My mom is coming to stay with the boys while TC is at work, so I feel really at ease about being away from them for a few days. I’ll be driving to Nashville from Columbia, which isn’t a short drive. But road trips are a completely different story when it’s just you, the car, and the open road.

I’m actually looking forward to being in the car by myself for 7 hours there and 7 hours back. It’s the most alone time I’ve had in a long time. I’ll be able to listen to my favorite songs and sing as loud as I want to.

I made a few playlists for the trip. And because I’m always interested in knowing what music people love, I thought I’d share these playlists with you.

The first one is my favorite love songs.

The second and third ones are both just general favorite songs that are good “driving music.”  Some are slow and some are fast. Some are really mellow and some just make me bop up and down in my seat, safely of course.

As you may have noticed, my taste in music is pretty random. I love a little pop, some 80s stuff, classic country and classic rock.

I’m going to be spending my free time over the next couple of days getting laundry together and packing my bags. Because my mom is coming, I have to make sure my house doesn’t look like a sty! I don’t want to make her feel like she has to clean.

I’ve got a good written schedule for Hudson and Hayes so she’ll know what those crazy boys are up to.

I will no doubt overpack for this trip, but I don’t really know exactly what I’m getting into, so I want to be as prepared as possible. I’m just so excited to see my friends.

And a big, huge, thank you to the fabulous Dr. Smith’s for sponsoring my trip to BlissDom. Dr. Smith’s is also one of the BlissDom sponsors this year. I can’t wait to stop by their booth and I’m excited to share a Dr. Smith’s giveaway with all of you before I leave for BlissDom.

What’s on your favorite road trip play list?

WIDE OPEN SPAAAACES! I hope you sing that at the top of your lungs at some point on your very long road trip. Have such a fun trip! I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little jealous!

I hope your drive there is amazing! I’m taking Zoe up to Atlanta this weekend, and that 6 hour road trip with a toddler is going to be MUCH different than your 7 hour one all by yourself! Enjoy the quiet =)

I see so many good bands on there…Sister Hazel, Matchbox 20, Ray Lamontagne, Counting Crows…that trip is going to go by in no time! Enjoy.

If you could just go ahead and burn me those playlists onto some CDs that would be great. Thanks in advance. ;)

I hope you have the best time. I’m more than a little jealous. Can’t wait to see pics & read all about it!

I HEART Into the Mystic–it was my wedding song :) And there’s something about Dixie Chicks that always takes me back to the good ole’ college years, and driving home during breaks. Have fun!

(add “this is us” by mark knopfler, “heavenly day” by patti griffin and “fast train” by soloman burke.)(you’re welcome in advance.)

I am a faithful reader, but bad commenter…..but the fact that you have Elephant Love Medley on your list made me take a second to comment. I could listen to that song on repeat for days! And I totally think I am the world’s greatest singer while singing along to it :)

Ha! We have the same taste in music. Love it! And I LOVE Nashville. Have a wonderful and safe trip. (If you intend to catch up with friends on the drive, I’d suggest getting a POP phone for your iPhone. Awesome.)

I’m from Louisiana, read your blog all the time (even emailed you once) & I’m heading to Blissdom too! Oh, and I’ve waaaaaay overpacked! Safe travels!

Have fun at Blissdom!!! We are going on a road trip to NJ for a friend’s wedding next month sans C, and I am looking forward to the time alone as well! (although Andrew hates my music…so that might be an issue haha) Can’t wait to hear all about it :)

HAVE FUN!! And your music is fantastic; I’m a little jealous!

Love to see Sister Hazel on there. I’d overpack too…it’s just your stuff in the car. For once, you don’t have to share the space with the boys’ things! Love Nashville. Husband and I have begun making that our anniversary trip. Drive from southeast Indiana and stop at a couple of wineries along the way. Have fun!

these are such fun play lists! I always include “love shack” by the b52s, which is also my ringtone! it’s just a great song.

I wondered if you were coming to blissdom! I live in Nashville so if you need anything Holla! a bunch of us blogger girls are gonna meet for brunch on Sunday at Monells(by the airport) 11:30 am if you want to join!

I love your playlists – we have very similar taste! I have been absolutely in love with “You are the best thing” by Ray Lamontagne (he’s very similar to Van Morrison if you’ve never listened to him and this song is just PERFECTION) and “Love on Top” – Beyonce. Those two songs have been on a nearly continuous loop for me for the past month.

Oops- looks like you have a great play list and I hope you have a great time! I love my time in the car on my way to the gym each morning and have been known to read a blog or two sometimes after my workout lol. I too would totally look forward to a quiet drive!
