greetings from the gulf coast!

It’s a beautiful day on the Gulf coast. We are all absolutely loving being here. Just being here together as a family makes this the best summer vacation ever.

Almost all of my childhood/ adolescent vacation memories happened here on the Gulf coast and I’m happy that my boys are getting to start some of the same memories.

We’ve been enjoying time in the lazy river. Cooking meals together. Waiting on Carrie’s luggage. (Carrie is Walker’s girlfriend, and the newest addition to our trips and we’re so excited to have her here.)

We’re taking naps. Building sand castles. And watching the Olympic coverage together as a family.

And when the afternoon storms come in, we all go inside and enjoy an excuse to get out of the sun for a bit.

I have a nice little stack of “goals” for this trip. I doubt I’ll read every word of all of these books, but the thought of doing it just makes me happy. I love time when I can sit and just read. And the extended naps after an exhausting day on the beach allow for lots of reading time.

The new reading plan for She Reads Truth was announced early this morning, and I enjoyed starting Proverbs with a gorgeous view of God’s most remarkable creation. I hope you’ll all read it, too. Proverbs is one of my favorite books of the Bible and I’m excited to follow along with so many of you as we share what we’re learning together.

I’ll be taking a few days “off” as I enjoy time with my family. I have three incredibly gifted writers lined up to share with you what’s on their hearts. I hope that you’ll take the time to read what they have to say so you can see why I love them all so much. And share your thoughts with them in the comments.

I hope you all have a beautiful week!
